If you are a loyal blog reader, you will recall that I had an exhibition of my artwork at Gnostic Mana Cafe in Woy Woy during the month of July. The Cafe generously agreed to donate their 30% commission from all sales to PANDA (post and ante natal depression association), and I more than happily donated a further 20%.
Whilst I didn’t sell any of my big pieces, which would have equated to a more generous donation, I did sell a small piece of work which enabled me to donate $60 to PANDA. Every little bit helps, and it’s nice to know that with the help of other community members such as Gnostic Mana Cafe, we can make a small difference.
Post natal depression is an issue close to my heart, having experienced it for the best part of 18 months after the birth of my baby Treya. Hopefully by exhibiting my work (which included a painted belly cast, an etching, a multi media piece and a multitude of acrylics on canvas) and generating some publicity about the event, we were able to get people talking about the often hidden issue of post and ante natal depression.
To all of you who viewed the exhibition, gave me feedback, and told others about it, thank you!
